Project: Issam and Dan’s Birmingham Townhouse
Thursday, March 11th, 2010Almost a year ago, Issam and Dan’s Birmingham townhouse was destroyed by a devastating house fire. Issam, Dan and Ila (their beautiful sphynx cat) all made it out of the house unharmed, but very little of what was inside the house survived. The house required rebuilding from the ground up and they took this opportunity to finish out a formerly unfinished attic into a beautiful, airy loft. Issam and Dan came to Atmosphere for assistance in sourcing furniture, lighting and finishes for what would become a completely new and gorgeous house. Benjamin Moore’s White Dove was chosen as the primary color to use throughout the house allowing the stunning tile, wallpaper, and artwork to be the stars.
A custom mid-century style sofa, covered in a rich Sea Kelp velvet with a contrast welt in Bristol Dove sets the tone for the simple elegance of the living room.

The kitchen was given an open feeling by keeping all the cabinets below the counters while emphasizing the height of the room with a dark purple tile backsplash installed vertically behind the sink. White marble and a beautifully patterned black granite were chosen for the countertops.

The master bath received a glamorous champagne matte wallpaper with crushed glass detail and lighting by Flos.

By wallpapering the ceiling in the guest bedroom we added an unexpected and surprising touch of Hollywood glam. This also looks amazing from the street since it is on the second floor.

You can’t help but be stunned by the beautiful light fixture greeting your arrival at the third floor loft. The newly finished attic’s New York penthouse vibe and phenomenal natural light make it the perfect place to kick off your shoes and relax.

Thanks guys for involving us in such a wonderful project!
And a special thanks to Cary Norton for the beautiful photographs of the townhouse.
